The first day of Spring was yesterday, yay! Spring has made me want to try out a few new products on my face to revitalize it after the harsh winter weather. I’ve been really interested in masks lately and since my skin is so temperamental, acne prone and combination type, I wanted something that would be gentle and not stress it out.
The first mask I’ve been using is this one by Peter Thomas Roth:
It had great reviews, and since I had a gift card I figured I would try it out. I’m still in the spot-testing stage, but so far I really like it! I never put any product all over my face until I spot-test for about 2 weeks on different areas of my skin. I had a few deep, cystic pimples trying to come out last week, and I put this over those to try to draw them out. I was really happy with how it worked. The pimple was still there, but it took some redness away and de-puffed it a bit so it didn’t look as mountainous on my forehead. Win! My chin/jawline is a problem area with subsurface bumps and this seemed to really calm them down and not have them come to a head. If my skin keeps having a good reaction to this stuff, I’m going to do an all over test and see how my skin looks after that!
Since the PTR mask was on the pricey side, I hunted down a more budget-friendly mask (because I would much rather get addicted to the cheaper mask if it works just as well!) I came across this one by Boots:
This Iconic Clay Mask also has great reviews and helloooo, that price point! I love that you can buy this at ULTA and Target. It only has 5 ingredients and they’re all natural, which is another major plus. I started testing this over the weekend and I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet. A lot of reviews touted that your skin feels super soft and nourished after and as the mask dries, you can see where the oil is being drawn out. For me, I didn’t really feel any difference in how my skin felt, but maybe that was because I only put a little bit on certain areas. I did see oil being drawn out, but not an overt amount. In any case, I’m going to keep trying on different areas and see how my skin handles it. Hopefully if I get to the point where I can do an all-over test, I will be agreeing with the reviews!
What are some skincare/makeup goodies you’ve been testing out lately? If you have any recommendations for my ornery skin, send ’em my way!
