I am obsessed with lighting. I love looking at the different kinds of fixtures that designers put into spaces, especially on Fixer Upper and Property Brothers. They add the most unexpected pieces and it makes me go “OH! I can do something like that!”. I am huge on mood and ambiance and lighting plays a major part with that in a space. Since our house has a lot of the builder’s grade ‘boob lights’, we need to slowly upgrade.
There were two particular sections of the house that were driving me nuts because the globe was tinted, making our closet hallway and our laundry hallway very dark. Some people probably wouldn’t mind light on the dim side but I’m the type that wants a lot of light in functional spaces I use often. Since we have the 9 foot ceilings on the first floor, I had a little bit of room to play with and didn’t have to limit my search to flushmounts. To maximize the light, I looked for one with a glass globe.
I didn’t want to spend a ton of money but I still wanted it to look like a significant upgrade. Enter Lowes! I found the perfect semi-flushmount for those areas and Joey was a fan, too. It’s the Allen + Roth Yately Bronze Clear fixture.
I liked the clear globe, and that you could put three bulbs in it for maximum light explosion. They weren’t too bad to install, either. They make such a huge difference in our hallways now and I can actually see what I’m doing! It’s a major improvement.
I will definitely be scouring Lowes stores and their website to see if I can find some more gems for the rest of the house. I have two lights in the upstairs hallway that are crying out for help, so we’ll see if we get there next!
