Moving on to the guest bedroom! Here’s a little secret about me: I’m colorblind. Not fully, I still see in color but sometimes I don’t catch the undertones in some swatches that I look at because I’m red/green colorblind. That makes our paint selections quite… interesting sometimes because a color that jumps out at Joey could look bland to me or vice versa. By the end of the trip to get paint, we usually end up staring at one another in the store and leave empty handed!
I have recently discovered Sherwin Williams’ app called the ColorSnap Visualizer and man, this thing helps me out a TON. It’s so nice to actually be able to see the colors I like virtually displayed in a whole room because that way, I can get a better idea of the tones since it’s shown on a bigger scale.
I was playing around with colors and settled on a color called Cocoa Whip. Here’s what it looks like in the app:
It’s definitely a lot darker than I thought it would be, but I still like it! The room is not that big, so I want it to feel cozy but not too smashed. I love how it makes the white trim pop, giving the room crisp, fresh lines.
The color also has to work well with Gale Force, since they’re going to be right up against each other. I want the transition to be natural, not like I’m walking out of one house and into another. For now, this is the front runner! If I still like it by payday on Friday, it’s probably going to be a green light.
Any particular Sherwin Williams colors you love that would complement my hallway? Do share!
Last winter we painted our master bedroom in an effort to make that room more of a sanctuary for us. Since the whole entire house was one color (builder’s paint, yay) we needed a defined space that felt more finished that we could relax in. So we got the paint on the walls and the trim, added a new light fixture and then just…stopped. Holidays got in the way, work got in the way, money constraints got in the way. And up until now, we really haven’t done anything else! I have been scheming of things I have been wanting to do in here, and so far I know I need 3 key pieces to make it that much more pulled together. As always, Wayfair is boss when it comes to hunting for house treasures!
- A New Bed Set
I have been searching and searching for a grey/silver bed set for quite some time. Since we have light blue walls and brushed nickel hardware on our dressers, this set will pull it in nicely. It’s a lovely print, not too feminine and will make it feel a little more like a posh getaway.
At first I wanted patterned curtains, but once I found the bedspread I knew I should go plain with the window treatments. I don’t want blackout curtains because we have blinds and I don’t need them for privacy. The flow these curtains have are lovely and I think they would add the perfect amount of softness.
- A “Bed Bench”
I have always loved these things but I wouldn’t use it at the end of our bed. We have quite a bit of space along one side of the room that has our gallery wall on it. I would use this as an accent piece to fill up that space and add some texture in the room by adding a throw blanket and some fancy pillows.
I still have wall decor to think about for our room as well, but I needed to break it down so I wouldn’t feel so overwhelmed! I think by getting these “bigger ticket” items in the room, it will help make the rest of the little touches easier to select. I have a few things in mind I will share soon!
