First off, why are bed sets so ugly? They are the hardest thing to find for a room and it takes me ages to rifle through all my favorite sites before I find a few that are just ok. The thing about bedding for me is that it’s such a focal point for a room, and can be such a major topic of discussion that it should look good. It shouldn’t be a ‘I guess that will work’ decision. In our guest room, this is going to be the piece that everything else builds off of. The room is neutral and if you follow my snapchat you’ll know I tried a neutral bedding in there and really disliked it because it made the room flat and boring. So I started looking for something with blue and white in it, to add some color and pattern into the room. I figured this would be a cinch because blue and white is everywhere right now and there should be some good patterns. Wrong. I was so wrong. Honestly, what the heck?!
I finally found a Tommy Hilfiger set at Macy’s that’s pretty awesome and would look good in that room. I can be a sucker for paisley print when it’s done right and with the right colors. (Bonus, it’s on sale!) I slowly built around this set to get ideas about other accessories and accent pieces I would want in the room.
I love mixing sleek metals with rustic woods and stone. It adds natural elements that make the room more carefree and approachable. I definitely want my guests to feel at home when they’re here, not like they can’t touch anything or relax because everything looks too pristine. A kick-back-and-relax vibe is what we’re going for that’s visually interesting and homey at the same time. Also, can we talk about that monogram pillow?! One of the cutest accessories that adds so much personality!
